Hey there,
So today I decided to email two people I wanted to write guest posts for us.
The first person had written for us before. That worked in my favor because I was able to show him that his post has gotten more traffic each month since the first month it was published.
You see, that's where a lot of people go wrong, they focus on getting traffic to a post today, instead of thinking long term about how that post can keep getting them traffic, day after day, week after week and so on…
People love the idea of doing something once and getting paid over and over again.
Now he has a chance to double the results he's already getting.
The second person I asked had never written for us before, doesn't blog and in fact, has never even guest posted in his life.
Both immediately said yes.
But why?
It doesn't come down to just having a cool site and people wanting to write for it. If that was the case, I would never run out of new amazing content.
Ultimately it came down to 3 things:
1. I gave them the headline for the post. This helps them visualise what they can write, before they even thought about writing something ("Oh cool, I would love to be the person that wrote that!").
2. I told them what's in it for them. Do this for me and you will get this result...
3. Asking them to do it. You can't expect to get something by doing nothing.
I asked both of them to write a top list on a subject they are experts on.
I know a lot of people struggle with post inspiration. That's why I love top lists because once you have the headline, the rest is easy.
I have been coming up with headlines for people to write for years now. It's second nature to me. It's not even hard once you've done it for a while.
Let me show you:
Here are some key phrases:
- Mouth breathers
- Unnecessary surgery
- Dropped out of school
- Learn multiple languages
Ok, let's look at some posts that can be written for these phrases:
