One dirty little secret about success is that you're going to have more setbacks than home run success stories...
I know from experience. I've started at least 10 big projects this year and some of them have been a downright frustrating struggle.
But I don't give up on them - of course.
And once in a while a breakthrough happens - like it did yesterday when I got a big order for one of my less successful ventures.
So no matter what level you're at, I can understand your frustration, especially if you're still stuck with getting started.
After all, I went over 2 years (from 1999-2001) not knowing what I was doing before I made my first sale on August 18th, 2001, to a guy named "Al D" (trust me, it's recorded in this massive accounting spreadsheet I've been adding to since January, 1999).
One of the biggest concerns I hear from beginners is that their market is all tapped out, or they don't know where to start, or they are too old, or they don't have any money, etc.
Listen, I understand your worries, but you have to realize that someone out there who was once in a worse situation than you has been able to succeed.
For example, I think you'll agree that being your mid-50's, newly divorced, recently laid-off, with two kids entering college, and having no computer skills is a tough situation, right?
Well, earlier this week I listened to an interview with a woman named Penny Halgren who was in that exact scenario, but has since gone on to build a website business making her over 6-figures per year.
Selling QUILTING ADVICE.
Not expensive money-making products. Not fitness workouts. Not real estate courses...
Quilting advice.
She's crushed a lot of excuses because she didn't let anything get in her way.
First, she started by getting started. This is the biggest hump for many people to get over. But eventually you have to jump in the pool...doesn't matter how cold it is on your little toesies. So just get started.
Second, she found a mentor...she bought Cory Rudl's Internet Marketing products, studied them and became an action taker.
Third, she continued to take action and learn, every day. She tried a lot of new things, some worked, some didn't, but she never gave up.
Giving up is NEVER an option among successful people. The thought of not succeeding never enters into their head.
That's how I was when I got started. Nothing was going to stop me. Same with my coaching client, Isabel De Los Rios. If I could bottle her positive attitude, I'd be a billionaire and everyone in the world would be a massive success.
But like Penny, Isabel started out without even enough money to join my coaching group. She had to borrow the money from her boyfriend at the time. But that little trivial matter wasn't going to stop her, just like Penny's divorce and lay-off wasn't going to stop her.
So just get started.
=> Take action.
=> Fail forward.
=> Keep learning.
=> And never, ever, ever give up.
You can do this,
